39th Annual MainStrasse Village Oktoberfest
The Sullivan University Center for Learning – Northern Kentucky and the MainStrasse Village Association cordially invite you to join us for Oktoberfest 2017!
Sullivan University-NKY is proud to sponsor Oktoberfest 2017. Since 1962, Sullivan University has offered career-focused, time-conscious degree programs. The Center for Learning-NKY in Fort Mitchell opened last year to provide access to student services, admissions information, financial assistance and a range of support services. The MSVA welcomes them as our Title Sponsor for this year’s festival.
Continuing with the village and city centered changes that were begun at Maifest, look for a renewed focus on all that MainStrasse Village offers. No longer will the businesses and homes along the Sixth Street Promenade be hidden from view behind festival tents. Instead those tents will be turned around to show off the magnificent architecture, rich heritage and everyday sights of the village. Main Street between 5th and 7th Streets will be closed for the entire weekend so that we can continue to show off our Village businesses by allowing them to “join” the festival with displays along the Main Street corridor.
Kinderplatz, our kids and families area in Goebel Park, will include more rides from Kissel Brothers, along with other family-oriented activities. Circus Mojo, a huge hit at Maifest 2017, will be returning with shows throughout each day, as well as a fire show on Saturday night (weather permitting). Due to popular demand for Clock Tower Tours at Maifest, the Tower Legacy Foundation will be expanding tour hours with more opportunities to see this beloved icon from the inside.
This year’s event will include a renewed focus on Covington and Northern Kentucky based businesses. Braxton Brewing Company will be honoring Covington in its own unique way with a new beer the company will announce soon, as well as selling their Covington-based brews at the Braxton Brewing Main Stage and Biergarten. Bircus Brewing Company, in association with Circus Mojo, will be selling their locally-brewed beers. And Villa Hillbillies/Second Sight Spirits will be offering cocktails crafted with moonshine distilled in Northern Kentucky. Here in MainStrasse we are all about “local,” and are proud of our association with our neighbors and friends both inside and outside the Village.
All of this is in addition to the usual fun and festive atmosphere that you have come to expect from MainStrasse Village festivals. Enjoy the finest food and beverage vendors from around the region. Take a leisurely stroll through our Arts & Crafts Promenade, filled with unique and tempting hand-crafted wares to get you started early on your holiday shopping. Our two stages will come alive with great local and regional entertainment, including German bands and dancers. Finally, after a brief absence, we will be rolling out not one, but two, beer steins — one of them our traditional Oktoberfest plastic stein highlighting participating businesses, the other our first (of many!) limited edition Village themed hand-crafted ceramic steins.
Lastly as many of you are aware our long-time friend of all things MainStrasse, “Mr. Oktoberfest” Mick Noll, passed away recently. As the village pondered how to honor his legacy we decided that it would be appropriate to do so during this Oktoberfest festival. Our event logo has been designed as a tribute to his efforts and contributions on our behalf. Also, there will be a remembrance of him at our opening ceremony on Friday, September 8.
More details are coming soon, including a complete entertainment schedule. Keep looking for updates on the MSVA web site (MainStrasse.org), our FaceBook page (@MainStrasseVillage) and our Twitter feed (#MainStrasseKY). You can also contact our office at 859-491-0458 or email@example.com.
