Where:
On Main Street, between 6th and 7th Streets in MainStrasse Village, Covington, KY.  This contest is during Maifest of the streets will be closed.

When:
The chalk-off will begin at noon on Saturday, May 19th and end at 6pm with judging at 6:30 pm.  A fain date will be Sunday, May 20th at noon.

Judging:
There will be three (3) independent judges from the arts community that will judge on the following criteria:  originality,use of color, artistic expression and complexity to create.  Total prize money is $500 (1st place: $250, 2nd place: $150, 3rd place $100.

<If it looks like it is going to rain, you might want to bring a plastic painter’s tarp to cover your work.  You can buy this at most stores that sell painting supplies for about $2)

The MainStrasse Village is located less than 1-mile south of Cincinnati, Ohio in Covington, Kentucky. We are the first exit from Ohio or the last one in Kentucky.

From Kentucky I-71/I-75 Northbound: Take EXIT #192, 5TH STREET, continuous right turn off exit ramp turns into 5TH STREET. Continue on Fifth one block to free parking lot on right, or 2 blocks to right on MAIN ST.

From Ohio I-71/I-75 Southbound: Cross Ohio River into Kentucky. Take the first exit on the Kentucky side of the bridge EXIT #192, 5TH STREET exit towards COVINGTON/NEWPORT, (left lane of exit ramp). Continue on Fifth one block to free parking lot on right, or 2 blocks to right on MAIN ST.

From Newport: Take W 4TH STREET west, over the Licking River Bridge. W 4TH becomes E 4TH, continue to LEFT on MAIN ST.

MainStrasse Village Association was formed in 1979 and is dedicated to improving the image and recognition of the area, by encouraging and assisting businesses and tourism development and contributing to the ongoing beautification of this 19th century German neighborhood. In order to accomplish its goals, MainStrasse Village hosts several festivals each year including Mardi Gras, Maifest, Goettafest, Wine Festival and Oktoberfest. We also host many other smaller events including the 4th Sunday Antique Shows and special holiday celebrations.

MainStrasse Village is a designated national historic district that is the home of Old World charm and New World fun. We offer a unique variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and entertainment and we pride ourselves on offering a safe environment to visitors and residents alike.
